I know that I haven't blogged in a long time. I got hooked on Facebook and never came back to my blog. On July 14, 2009 I had surgery on my neck. I had bone spurs that were pushing into the nerve and the disc 4 and 5 had collapsed, it was the collapsed disc rubbing together that had built the spurs. They went in and placed a plate in my neck and removed the spurs. Mostly the spur on the left, it was the one pushing into the nerve causing my left arm to go numb and hurt like crazy. I have posted a couple of pictures of the x-ray showing the plate in my neck. It is actually kind of cool to look at. I went in for my 6 month checkup Thursday January 21, 2010 and everything is looking great. At least that is what the doctor says. I have no more numbing in my arm or pain in my arm which I am grateful for.




Monday, January 18, 2010 was a Holiday, so I didn't have to work. My friend and I went for a drive to get out of the city for awhile because of the smog we have had it was nice go up where the air was cleaner. We drove up Emigration Canyon for a ways and then took the East Canyon loop towards Parleys Canyon. We were going to drive up East Canyon but the road was closed. We drove up to Park City instead and stopped for a little bit at the ski resort and watched the skiers. I took a couple pictures of the ski slopes. It was clowdy, another snow storm was moving in, so it was really cold, so we didn't last long. We then drove around and went to the Tanger outlet stores and went into Old Navy and I bought a couple of Sweat pants, they were on sale. Then we came home. We were gone about 4 hours.

I know that I haven't posted anything for awhile now, I have been playing on Facebook and meeting up with friends from High School.
About my choir. We just had a concert on March 27th and went well. We did 2 pieces by Rutter along with 1 piece that was arranged my Jay Welch. Then we did a piece called "A World Beloved: a Bluegrass Mass." This mass was never performed in Utah, we were the first to perform it here. I don't have pictures to put up. I need to get my camera out.

Another Year

Well January has come and gone and we are into February. My choir has been practicing for our March 27th concert at the Rose Wagner. We are doing a piece that has never been done in Utah called "A World Beloved: A Bluegrass Mass." It is challenging but fun. Rant

HAPPY NEW YEARS!!!
They say that things happen in three's. Well I have had my three. The first thing that happened was my water bed heater going out on me, it went out around the beginning of December. As soon as I figured out how to insulate the bed so that I wasn't cold, the second thing happened. Christmas Day my furnace stopped working. I had ESCO come out the next day, Friday. They a found that a part went bad. They had to order the part in. It was suppposed to arrive and they would come out on the following Tuesday. The owners of where I live had be go buy a space heater and they would reimburse me. Well Tuesday rolled around and the part didn't come in. I called and ESCO did a little tracking and found there was a miscommunication and instead of it being ordered UPS overnight it was sent Ground. The part didn't come in until Friday, January 2nd. I went a whole week with no heat in my home except for the space heater. The last thing that happened was my computer crashing. I was able to get another computer but I am still trying to load the hard drive from my old computer onto the new one and it is not working. Well that was my life in December. Hopefully now that I have had my three nothing else will happen and this year will be a better year. Well that is my ranting for the moment.

Concerts

My choir, The Choral Arts Society of Utah has two concerts coming up. The first concert is on October 17th at Rose Wagner. We are doing 60's music, like the Beatles, Association, Beach Boys, etc. The concert starts at 8pm. It is a free concert but you will need to get tickets. Go to www.casu.org, click on Performances and you can get the information on when the concerts are and how to get tickets.
The other concert is our Angel Tree Benefit Christmas concert on November 29th at Cottonwood High School. All proceeds go to benefit the Angel Tree program. Our guest singer will be George Dyer.

1. I have lived in Salt Lake City all my life.
2. I wore glasses when I was little and in Seventh Grade did not have to wear them anymore. My eyes corrected themselves.
3. I work at the Salt Lake City Public Library and have worked there for 28 1/2 years.
4. I sing in a choir and have been in this choir since November 1994.

Current Obsessions

1. Watching the Olympics and staying up too late.
2. Watching TV in General like Heroes - which will be on again on September 22nd. I can't wait.
3. Reading Breaking Dawn - the fourth book in the Twilight series.
4. Singing in the Choral Arts Society of Utah Master Choral.
5. I also have Blogs that I like to read.
6. Eating chocolate.

Goals

1. Too Clean my house -- right now my house is a terrible mess.
2. Too get out and exercise and lose weight

My Fears

1. Losing my voice -- I love to sing and I am always afraid that I might lose my voice and not be able to sing.

I don't have any other fears at the moment.

My Joys

1. Singing
2. Spending time with my Family.
3. Playing with Ava. She is so cute and does the funniest things that make me laugh.
4. Eating Chocolate -- it is also an obsession that I need to tame a bit.
5. Being with friends and going to movies with them.


That's about it. I can't think of anything else at the moment.
